How the NDIS Works

Types of NDIS Funding

Core Supports Supports for everyday activities, such as personal care, transport, household tasks, and participation in community or recreational activities.
Capacity Building Supports Services designed to increase independence and skills, including support coordination, employmentassistance, therapy, and training.
Capital Supports Funding for major one-off purchases like assistive technology, home modifications, or vehicle modifications.

Plan Management Options

Self-Managed – Participants manage their own funding and payments. 
Plan-Managed – A registered plan manager handles budgets, invoices, and reporting. 
NDIA-Managed – The NDIS directly manages the funds and pays providers.

Participants can also choose a combination of these options to suit their needs.

How NDIS Pricing Works

NDIS uses a structured pricing framework to determine how much providers can charge for each service. This ensures transparency, fairness, and consistency. Funding is allocated from the participant’s plan according to these guidelines.
